Chinese New Year – message from the DPM

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has recorded a message to mark Chinese New Year.

In the message, he says:

I would like to wish Chinese communities around the world a very happy New Year on what is the start of the most important festival in the Chinese Lunar calendar.

“In whatever way you and your family start your celebrations tonight, I wish you all wealth, happiness, good fortune and a prosperous Chinese New Year, in this, the year of the Dragon.”

"Over the next fifteen days, many ancient traditions will be celebrated, including visiting elderly relatives; watching lion and dragon dancing troupes; setting off fire crackers, and feasting with friends and family."

"In whatever way you and your family start your celebrations tonight, I wish you all wealth, happiness, good fortune and a prosperous Chinese New Year, in this, the year of the Dragon."
